STAR WARS 'BUILD A DROID' GAMEFIED AD

Here is a Star Wars mobile ad/game that I put together recently. Essentially, the way the ad works is the user comes in and is prompted to perform a task. When they perform the task and tap on the CTA, they are rewarded with virtual currency in whatever game they are playing at the moment. It’s kind of a cool idea. Getting paid for interacting and watching ads.

Anyway, we were pitching a variety of Star Wars mini-games in anticipation for the new movie coming out in December. My idea was to build a droid unit. It’s simple. You drag the pieces of the droid into the center and place them in their corresponding places. When you’ve completed the puzzle, a CTA fades in and you’re taken to an outside link. Preferably somewhere you can purchase tickets or view a trailer.

Here is a compilation of the progress work in various screen shots.

This unit was never picked up for production. You know how it goes. People love the idea, but all of a sudden the budget just doesn’t have any room for stuff like this. Whatever. I got to concept, direct and design this thing. I think it’s pretty rad. Especially, since I don't even really like Star Wars. Well, Darth Vader is cool I guess.
